ELC PRESCHOOL PROGRAM FOR THREES

The ELC three year old program is designed to make learning fun for each child. Students in the three year old classes will be exposed to a variety of learning experiences that will prepare them for their Pre-K school year. Phonics, Pre-Reading skills, Math, Music, and Bible are taught through the three year curriculum.

 

 

Math Skills will be taught using hands on experiences. Rote counting, sorting, patterning, and number recognition are just some of the skills taught. Students will be using counters, attribute blocks, pattern blocks, cubes, and other manipulatives.

 

 

Small motor skills and writing skills will be a part of the daily routine in the three year old classes. Students will experience tearing, cutting, playing with play dough, and painting to develop fine motor skills. Markers, paint, shaving cream, colored pencils, chalk, and crayons are some of the writing tools students will use to develop their writing skills.

 

 

Phonics and pre-reading skills are taught through the ABEKA curriculum as well as other teacher resources. Students will be introduced to a letter of the alphabet each week. Rhyming, opposities, consonant and vowel sounds, and positional concepts are some of the skills that will be introduced. Children's literature will also be used to enhance their learning experiences.

 

 

Music and Chapel will be included in our weekly program for threes. Chapel is once a week and includes a Bible lesson as well as worship through children's songs. Music and movement class is also once a week and is taught by the ELC Music teacher. Music is also part of the daily classroom activiities.

 

 

 

 

ELC 4 Year Old Pre-K Program

 

 The four year old Pre-K program at the ELC is packed full of great learning experiences to prepare students for a successful start to their elementarey experience. Students in the 4 year old classes will enjoy learning in a loving, structured, academic setting. They will learn necessary academic skills and also experience God's wrold through Bible lessons, scripture memory, and Chapel.

 

 

Phonics, pre-reading skills, math, writing skills, and language development are part of the ELC daily curriculum. Students will also enjoy Music and Movement class each week, as well as computer class and playground time.

 

 

Phonics is taught using the ABEKA curriculum and other teacher resources. Students will be introduced to an alphabet letter each week. They will also be introduced to consonant and vowel sounds, blends, and sight words. Pre-reading skills will include sequencing, categorizing, opposities, and ryhming. Children's literature will be used to teach pre-reading and language development skills.

 

 

Math skills will be taught using a variety of methods and hands on materials. Number recognition, shapes, size, rote counting, ordinal numbers, coin recognition, and patterning are some of the skills students will learn.

 

 Students will also learn through units of study. These Science and Social Studies units will enhance their knowledge of the world around them. Plants, animals, space, community helpers, and transportation are some of the topics included in our units of study.

 

 

 Our goal for the pre-k program is that each student will learn the basic skills necessary to ensure a successful kindergarten year and have FUN while doing it!
